The state of Colorado is a victim of one of the worst floods in decades. The floods began on Wednesday night, triggered by a series of unusually violent storms of late summer that have flooded the larger urban centers, from Fort Collins, near the border with Wyoming, up to Boulder, Denver and Colorado Springs. Particularly affected is the Boulder and a number of other cities north of Denver where the water is channeled through the canyons and has come up to areas that are heavily populated. More than 500 people have been reported missing and so far there have been five dead. According to CNN, even today the city is on alert as heavy rains are expected, which could cause further flooding. Barack Obama has already signed the document for the state of emergency, allocating more funds to help Colorado.
