Sochi Games 2014: a different perspective.

sochi drawing by M.

We are proud to present to you the first drawing – of a long series- made by our young and very talented graphic designer M.

As we explained in the Letter from the Editors, he prefers to remain anonymous because he will soon be starting an art movement. Besides the creation of The Global Oyster’s logo, he will make drawings related to current issues.

In this case M. wanted to tackle the controversy of the much-anticipated Winter Olympics that are currently taking place in Sochi, Russia. As the artist explains to us; “Rings are supposed to unite, but in this case they are broken. Equality has quit”. He wanted to highlight the breach of human rights that occurred before and during the Games, with a special focus on Gay Rights.

Welcome on board M!!

To find out more about the controversy of this year’s Winter Olympics, take a look at the short documentary made by VICE USA.
